Residents of 11 colonies want Gurugram civic body to take over upkeep

GURUGRAM: Concerned over the deteriorating condition of the 11 private colonies that are in the process of being taken over by Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), residents have demanded to expedite the process of takeover and have urged the civic body to undertake the civic services on an immediate basis.

A group of residents of these 11 colonies, under the banner of Gurgaon Residents Forum, had a meeting with MCG commissioner and mayor on the matter. They pointed out that the MCG had initiated the process of taking over these colonies in 2019, but it is yet to be completed.

“After the announcement of the transfer of colony to MCG, the developer has absolved its responsibility with only doing negligible services for namesake, while MCG is also reluctant to provide mandatory civic services citing pendency of the takeover process. We are forced to live in unhygienic and pathetic civic conditions and have been facing numerous problems. We have urged the MCG to get the roads recarpeted or repaired, undertake sewage and water facilities, during the pendency of the takeover process,” said Joginder Singh, chairman of Gurgaon Residents Forum and a resident of Sushant Lok-2.

The 11 private colonies which are to be taken over by MCG include Mayfield GardenMalibu TowneVipul World, Sushant Lok-2, 3, Greenwood City, Rosewood CityUppal HousingArdee City and DLF-4, 5.

“We are trying to complete the survey within 15 days and will submit our report to higher authorities soon,” said Vivek Gill, superintending engineer MCG.
