Highrises along Noida Expressway to get facade lights

NOIDA: On the lines of famous cities like New York, Singapore and Dubai, high-rise buildings
along the 25-km-long Noida expressway will soon get facade lighting.
The Noida Authority has changed the building bylaws to make facade lighting mandatory on
these buildings. Advent Building, One Sky, Amity University and ATS Tower will get the lights in
the first phase.
Officials confirmed changes in the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act, making it
mandatory to install facade lighting on a minimum of 40% of the front-facing surfaces of
buildings on either side of the expressway. The Act includes provisions for the Noida Authority to
determine the elevation and architectural features of buildings on main roads.
As per the new bylaws, the allottees will be free to choose the lighting colour. The lighting can
even be in multicolour or laser beams. The completion of work will have to be reported to the
authority within two months from the date of issue of a relevant notice.
The authority will approve the map of future projects, with the condition that the developer make
provisions for facade lighting on a minimum of 40% of the building’s front-facing surface. The
occupancy certificate will be issued only after the completion of the work. If the work does not
start two months after the issuance of the relevant notice, the authority will take action against
the allottee as per conditions in the lease deed.
Officials
said thousands of vehicles use the expressway daily, the main arterial road of Noida. It is not
only used by locals but also by commuters from Delhi, Agra and Lucknow. Noida Master Plan
2031 proposes residential, commercial and institutional land use on the route.
Many multi-storey and other buildings stand or are under construction along the expressway.
Many more multi-storey buildings will likely come up in the area in the future, with officials
saying that the facade lighting will help show the city’s beauty.
Officials added that the existing street lighting does not offer a picturesque night view of the city,
whereas foreign cities look beautiful because of facade lighting on buildings.
