Gururgam: Greenopolis buyers protest as flats not ready even after 11 years

GURUGRAM: Homebuyers of Greenopolis project in Sector 89 are waiting for their homes even
11 years after its launch.
During a protest at the Gurgaon office of the Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (H-Rera)
on Wednesday, the homebuyers alleged that one of the two developers – Orris Infrastructure –
has utilised all money collected from them but “the project is still incomplete”.
Orris Infrastructure and The 3C company, another developer, launched the project in 2011.

Initially, 3C was responsible for construction, but after a dispute between the two developers,
work at the site stopped in 2016. By then, both the developers had collected Rs 1,155 crore
from 1,650 homebuyers.
After several years of litigation by the aggrieved homebuyers, Orris filed an affidavit in the court
to take the responsibility to complete the project. And in April 2022, Orris committed to complete
phases 1, 2 and 3 of the project and hand over the units to the allottees under the supervision of
H-Rera.
However, after seven months of construction work, Orris has already consumed Rs 48 crore
from the escrow account to complete the remaining work of the phase 1 towers, which were
already around 95% complete, according to homebuyers.
At the protest, the aggrieved homebuyers demanded that H-Rera should hold Orris accountable
for the commitment it made to both Orris and 3C homebuyers and ensure the handover of the
completed units of phase 1 to their respective allottees without any further delay.
“Further, the unsold inventory of phase 1 shall be sold at market price to generate cash for the
completion of the project,” said a homebuyer..” A spokesperson for the developer said, “We
have been seeking details about the homebuyers and the balance sheet and bank account
details of the other developer so that we can verify whether we are giving flats to genuine
allottees.”
