Gurugram: Two illegal colonies demolished in DTCP drive

GURUGRAM: Two illegal colonies developed illegally on a five-acre plot in Mahendrawara and one-acre land in Bhondsi were demolished by the enforcement wing of town and country planning department (DTCP) on Tuesday. The district town planner had earlier issued showcause notices to builders of these illegal colonies, but the construction was being carried out.

The enforcement team demolished four underconstruction houses, road and drainage network and 15 other structures in these two colonies on Tuesday, an official said. Police teams were deployed during the drive to avert any untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Yash Garg has directed the district town planner to carry out demolition drives in illegal colonies being carved out in Farrukhnagar
Nagar also. These illegal colonies have been identified during a drone survey conducted over 12,000 acres by various departments.

District town planner RS Batth told TOI that a no-objection certificate from the department is required for registration deeds in villages which come under Section 7(1) of the Haryana Regulation and Development of Urban Areas Act, 1975. “The system has been updated to check mushrooming of illegal colonies. There are strict directions from the director not to spare any unauthorised construction in the licensed colonies and illegal colonies built on agricultural land, which is in violation of the Act,” he said. In Bhondsi and Mahendrawara, Batth told residents who were present on the spot not to fall into the trap of such builders and property dealers who lure them into investing in properties at illegal colonies.
