Gurugram: Seven farmhouses being constructed in Budhera razed

GURUGRAM: Seven farmhouses being developed on 12-acre land in Budhera area were demolished by the enforcement team of town and country planning department (DTCP) on Monday afternoon.

According to the officials, the farmhouses were developed by Verma Farms near SGT University without DTCP’s permission.

“The seven farmhouses were being built violating several norms mentioned in the state government’s policy. For example, the policy says the minimum area for low density eco-friendly colony is 25 acre,” an official said.

The developer had been served notices six months back.

District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said based on the information received by the department, a team visited the site on Monday and demolished the boundary walls with the help of bulldozers.

“Not just farmhouses, a property dealer’s office was also demolished after giving 30 minute notice to the dealer to vacate the premises,” said Batth adding that such illegal farmhouses do not only cause revenue loss to the state exchequer but also cheat investors as there are no basic amenities in the area. “We have recommended for registering FIR against them,” he said.

Another illegal colony being developed on 2-acre land was also demolished by the team. Apart from this, two double-storey buildings that were being construction buildings in an old colony near SGT University were also razed during the demolition drive. “In presence of police team, the encroachment team managed to take action against these buildings amidst resistance by the locals,” he said.

“As per the directions, all illegal buildings and colonies which have come up during the lockdown period, will be demolished. A drive will be carried out against illegal colonies in Sector 72A soon,” Batth said.
