Gurugram deputy commissioner to meet RWAs to discuss structural audit report

commissioner has finally called a meeting of resident welfare associations (RWAs) of
16 residential societies to discuss the structural audit reports on Monday.
The audit report, based on visual checks conducted by four agencies, was submitted to the
committee headed by additional deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena around three
weeks ago. Meena then submitted the reports to deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav.
Residents have been urging the authorities to share the findings of audit reports so that
corrective measures can be initiated at the earliest. A few residents even alleged that some
developers are trying to suppress the reports as their highrises are structurally unsafe.
Earlier, a letter was issued by the district town planner (DTP) to all RWAs asking them to attend
the meeting on December 10, but it was later postponed to Monday. They were informed that
the deputy commissioner had a meeting with the audit agencies already, but the findings were
yet to be shared with RWAs.
Four agencies — Bureau Vertias, TPC Technical projects Consultants, Vintech Consultants and
NNC Design International — were roped in for carrying out the audits in August. They began the
surveys in mid-September. The process included an on-site inspection of the buildings to check
any apparent defect, signs of deterioration and damage to slabs, columns and beams.
District town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said apart from officials and RWA members,
representatives of structural audit agencies and developers will also be present at the meeting.
The structural audit was to be completed within 45 days.
The agencies are required to make suggestions on remedial measures and make
recommendations about type, frequency and location of other tests which will be carried out to
ascertain the structural integrity of the buildings audited.
