Gurugram civic body eyes revenue from building plan approvals

GURUGRAM: MCG has asked its joint commissioners to initiate a survey for identifying unauthorised buildings in their zones where construction is going on despite the sites being sealed for not taking building plan approvals. The civic body will also focus on increasing its revenue from building plan approvals, officials said.

Additional commissioner Vaishali Sharma said on Tuesday that the aim of the survey is to prevent the construction of unauthorised buildings at the initial stages itself. “Also, architects who don’t comply with the Haryana Building Code norms will be blacklisted by the corporation,” she said. MCG’s planning wing has also set up a helpdesk to assist applicants so that their applications for building plan approvals don’t get rejected.

Officials said that steps are also being taken to increase the civic body’s revenue from building plan approvals in the city. The corporation is estimated to generate a revenue of Rs 10 crore from building plan approvals in the 2021-22 fiscal. In the 2020-21 financial year, MCG generated around Rs 68 lakh from building plan approvals against a target of Rs 3 crore.

The councillors present at the meeting were also apprised that the building plans of the subdivided plots in the regularised colonies are now also being approved by the civic body. The councillors said that they will inform the residents that they can get the building plan approvals of the subdivided plots so that MCG’s revenue also increases with the rise in the number of applications.
