Ghaziabad: 4,700 flats yet to be sold, UP housing board slashes rates by 20%

GHAZIABAD: The UP Housing Board has slashed rates of dwelling units by 20% across all its
housing projects to make the rates compatible with market rates. There are nearly 4,700 unsold
units under the housing board schemes in Siddharth Vihar and Mandola.
“We decided to slash the rates of dwelling units under all the UP Housing Board housing
schemes by 20% to make the rates compatible with market rates and woo homebuyers,” said
Sunil Kumar Sharma, property in charge of the state housing board.
“Across different housing schemes in the district, there are nearly 4,700 unsold units. In
Siddharth Vihar, for instance, out of the 1,292 units under the Ganga, Yamuna
and Hindon schemes, there are 700 unsold units,” added Sharma. In Mandola, out of 7,500
units, nearly 4,000 are still unsold.
Officials said the approximate cost of 1-BHKs under the housing board schemes is Rs 69.45
lakh, while 2-BHKs cost Rs 87 lakh and 3-BHKs Rs 1.15 crore.
“To create awareness among buyers, we are developing an online portal where buyers can
apply for dwelling units. To make the offer popular, we will be organising an awareness
campaign at the housing board office in Vasundhara every Saturday,” said Sharma.
Spread over 635 acres, Siddharth Vihar has at least ten builder projects coming up. Nearly
40,000 people have started living in the Brahmaputra and Kanshiram Yojna homes and the
Ganga, Yamuna and Hindon towers, which the housing board has developed.
The location of Siddharth Vihar is strategic, near the Hindon river. While one side lies next to the
DME, the other is near the upcoming RRTS corridor. The Red Line metro line also is just a few
kilometres from Siddharth Vihar.
Its proximity to the Pratap Vihar Ganga Jal water treatment plant has also worked in its favour.
While there are many areas in Ghaziabad where the demand for Ganga water is high, UP Jal
Nigam can not supply it there yet. Due to its proximity to the water treatment plant, Siddharth
Vihar is all set to get Ganga water by December end.
“The fact that the Ganga water supply will start very soon makes our projects in Siddharth Vihar
all the more lucrative. Along with it, the slashing of the property rates will go a long way in
wooing the homebuyers,” said Sharma.
