Now, Aadhaar can be used for e-KYC of properties in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: To facilitate the residents, who are struggling for corrections in property IDs, the urban local bodies department has now allowed use of Aadhaar card as an authentic document for the purpose of identity as well as authentication of e-KYC.

The urban local bodies department formally issued a notification on this account on August 10. The notification is consequent to the communication made by the Government of India for using Aadhaar for
the verification of persons applying for various government schemes. Following the move, the use of Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) would be optional or an additional one but not the only document for authentication

According to information, there are around 1 crore registered property IDs in various civic bodies across the state. Correction of property IDs had emerged as a main issue among the residents as well as the state government.

As a result, it was not just the property holders, even the workers of the ruling BJP-JJP had been flagging this issue from time to time. In the most recent incident, senior leaders of the Haryana BJP, who participated in the core committee meeting of the state unit of the party at Gurugram last month, had also flagged the issue before chief minister Manohar Lal
Khattar. Pertinently, variation of details in the Aadhar card and the PPP has also led to deletion of beneficiaries’ names registered under various schemes of the state.
