Noida authority yet to get Rs 1,400 crore from 74 properties it has leased out

NOIDA: The Noida Authority is yet to collect dues worth Rs 1,400 crore from 74 properties it has
leased out to various government agencies and companies. Officials said these included
government offices, petrol pumps, banks, kiosks, gas godowns and showrooms. The dues have
been calculated till January 31.
It was the Authority’s general administration department that had given out these properties on
lease. Those using the buildings and space deposited money in the beginning but stopped
paying the rent later, the officials said, adding that notices had been sent to each of them.
Officials said petrol pump operators owed the maximum arrears, followed by government offices
and banks. Many of these operators have even moved court on issues related to rent.

Data sourced from the Authority showed 15 petrol pumps located in various sectors of the city
owed a maximum of Rs 518.5 crore to the Authority. These are followed by 21 government
offices that have an outstanding of Rs 377.5 crore.
The government agencies include offices of sales tax, income tax, sub-registrar, passport,
additional regional transport officer, telephone exchange, excise, industries and post offices.
There
are a total of nine bank branches from which the Authority is supposed to get Rs 297.2 crore. All
these banks have cases pending in courts. These apart, four CNG stations run by a private
company owe about Rs 150 crore in rent.
Nine mobile canteens, shops and kiosks have an outstanding of Rs 19.7 crore. As many as 16
gas godowns and showrooms owe Rs 2.5 crore.
Officials said they had held several meetings with representatives of the government agencies
and firms and urged them to clear the dues. “Over time, some of them have paid a portion of the
dues. But a majority have filed cases in court,” an official said.
The Authority, the officials said, had recently sent the revised overdue list to various
departments for necessary action.
