Noida authority razes 26 structures in four housing societies

NOIDA: Continuing with its crackdown against illegal construction in residential complexes, the Noida Authority on Wednesday razed as many as 26 shops and other commercial structures across four group housing societies.

The Authority started scanning building plans of the group housing projects that had been sanctioned in the past to look for violations on the ground. The exercise commenced from the first week of September soon after the Supreme Court gave its judgment on the Supertech Emerald Court twin towers’ case.

Chief executive officer of the authority, Ritu Maheshwari said that drive will continue and all unauthorised structures would eventually be brought down.

On Wednesday, the anti-demolition team deputed by the Authority, along with a police force, carried out the drive against illegal structures in two projects of AIMS Max Gardenia in Sector 75, Eldeco Amantram in Sector 119 and Homes 121 in Sector 121.

Apart from bringing down permanent structures with earth movers, officials removed the kiosks and platforms that had been set up.

Meanwhile, the group housing division of the Noida Authority cancelled the mediation meeting that was scheduled between the residents of Prateek Wisteria in Sector 77 and the Prateek Group, the developer, on Wednesday noon.

It was the second time that the meeting of the apartment residents was cancelled within a week.

Earlier on Monday, the mediation meeting had to be called off as Authority chairman Sanjeev Mittal decided to review the status of big-ticket investment projects in the city. On Wednesday, the meeting was cancelled without prior intimation to the residents.

President of the apartment owners’ association of the society, Amit Gupta said, “We had joined the video-conference-based meeting that was scheduled from 2.30 pm. However, after waiting for 45 minutes, we were told that the officials concerned were not available.”

The society having 1800 families is at loggerheads with the developer over interest-free maintenance security funds. “The entire amount has not been transferred to the society,” Gupta said. Chairman of the group, Prashant Tiwari had earlier said that the payment would be done “as per the due procedure”.
