Haryana: Parts of illegal colony razed in Wazirpur

GURUGRAM: The enforcement wing of town and country planning department carried out demolition drives in Garhi Harsaru village, Wazirpur, and razed boundary walls and gates of illegal colony.

On the basis of complaints received regarding the colony, the department conducted a site visit during which it was found that the office, boundary walls and roads were constructed and street lights were installed.

During inspection, the department also observed that around 10 acres were developed for a farmhouse colony and it was being extended.

Earlier in January, the department had served show cause notice and restoration order to the builder for carving out an unauthorised colony on revenue estate in Sector 95B, Wazirpur.

“As per the norms, no one is allowed to convert land into plots without obtaining licence from the department. And in this case, no permission was obtained, therefore the colony and the construction is in violation of the norms of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975,” said district town planner (enforcement) RS Batth.

He added that the builder neither furnished satisfactory reply nor restored the land, following which demolition drive was carried out in the area. “With the help of two earthmovers, the enforcement team razed the road network and gates,” he said.

Assistant town planner Ashish Sharma said the builder was developing an illegal farmhouse colony and there was a plan to extend it on 200 acres. He said the land was around 3km from Sultanpur lake and falls under an eco-sensitive zone.
