Gurugram: Over 400 families in Ansal Versalia await proper power connection

GURUGRAM: More than 400 families in Ansal Versalia are still waiting for a proper power
connection from the discom, nearly nine months after shifting to the upscale housing society in
Sector 67A with high hopes. Since there is no electricity connection in the society, power is
supplied through diesel generators.
The residents claimed that the developer completed the project, received an occupation
certificate from the department of town and country planning (DTCP) and gave them possession
of their homes without having a proper electricity connection from DHBVN. The power discom
refused supply to the society due to lack of electrical infrastructure, which the developer was
supposed to build.
The residents alleged that the developer kept the homebuyers in the dark about the electricity
connection before possession despite collecting all the required funds for the same, and “now
threatens to snap power supply from diesel generators if anyone raises the issue”.
“The residential society has 94 builder floors — constructed by 4S Builder and Ansal API — and
most of the residents moved into their homes in October last year. Since then, we have been
dependent on diesel generators. The developer has already snapped power supply from diesel
generators to three of the families for raising their voices about this issue,” said a resident.
“As a standby arrangement, we are being provided power from diesel generators but that often
leads to voltage fluctuations. We feel cheated,” said another resident, seeking anonymity. “This
is not only a financial burden on us, but also an environmental hazard. Moreover, we face 4-6
hours of outages daily,” said another resident.
DHBVN has stopped giving electricity connections to societies having deficient power
infrastructure since June 2021. “When we asked the builder why he didn’t inform us before the
registry, they said that power would be provided through generators till the issue was resolved,”
said a resident.
“We were shocked to know that the DTCP issued the OC when electricity is not available. How
did the registries take place without any objection. ,” said a resident.
Ansal API did not respond to queries from TOI.
