Gurugram: NBCC Green View residents say road not paved despite pleas

GURUGRAM: Rains have once again brought worries for the 200 families residing in NBCC Green View in Sector 37D as they continue to struggle with unpaved road connecting their society with main road in the sector for the past four years.

The residents said that the wait for the construction of the 145-metre-long stretch has turned into an endless nightmare despite their repeated pleas to the authorities. The 60-meter-wide road gets completely inundated during rains and the residents are forced to cross that pothole-ridden path to reach the main road.

Yadvendra Yadav, a resident of the society said, “Every time it rains, we face this hurdle as crossing through this unpaved patch becomes impossible for two-wheelers and pedestrians. We are suffering despite paying around Rs 40 crore as EDC to the government for the development of the sector road. Out of the 800-metre-long stretch, the authority has developed the road partially leaving around 145 metre unpaved.”

In July, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) had written to the land acquisition officer (LAO) and HSVP estate officer-1 about the handing over of the land for the construction of the master road in sectors 37D and 9B.

“We have met concerned officials and the MLA several times. Even filed a complaint on the CM Window, but nothing has been done to ease our problem. Everyone is passing the buck but not willing to take responsibility and resolve the issue,” said Deepak Jain, treasurer of NBCC RWA.

Meanwhile, the senior revenue officials of LAO said that the dispute of matter is pending in the Supreme Court and a detailed report will be submitted to GMDA soon along with the observations of the legal wing.

When contacted, Mani Ram Sharma, chief engineer of GMDA said, “A small patch of land is under dispute. The demarcation of land has been pending with LAO and HSVP and once they do it, we will take no time in constructing the patch.”
