Greater Noida: Soon, you can rate upkeep in your society

GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) will hire a
consultant to rate the maintenance facilities of housing societies on a scale of 1 to 5.
The move follows repeated complaints from residents over inadequate facilities in their
complexes.
Officials said the rating of a particular society would be done on the feedback received from its
residents across 10 parameters such as sanitation, maintenance of lift, electric supply and
common areas.

The responsibility of maintaining these facilities are either on the builder, the apartment owners’
association or any company hired by them, depending on the status of the society.
“The Greater Noida Authority has mediated at least 35 meetings between the builders and
buyers. In most of these sessions, residents have raised concern about maintenance facilities in
their societies. So, we have decided to rate the performance of the societies in terms of
maintenance facilities and find a solution to the problem,” said Narendra Bhooshan, the GNIDA
CEO.
Officials said the rating system would make the agency, AOA or the builder accountable for the
kind of maintenance services they were providing. So, if a particular agency is found doing good
work, it can be hired by other societies as well.
“For the rating system, we will soon hire a consultant,” Bhooshan said.
Officials said a preliminary presentation on the proposal had been made.
“The rating system will make the agencies or the developers provide good facilities because
their image will be at stake. Residents and Apartment Owners Associations will also get
information about the companies that are doing good work. This could largely solve the problem
of maintenance,” the CEO said.
