Noida: There are over 300 flats in sector 117, but no park to visit

NOIDA: Over 2,000 residents living in 5% abadi plot area in Sector 117 have urged Noida
CEO Ritu Maheshwari to get a park built in the area. According to residents, in the absence of a
park, children are forced to play on roads, while others have to go to nearby sectors for morning
and evening walks.
“There is not a single park in the 5% abadi plot area of Sector 117 where we have about 300
flats under the Samajwadi Awas Yojana. Overall, there are about 2,400 residents living in these
plots where we have around 300 children, who have no place to play,” said Kosinder Yadav,
RWA president of Sector 117.
“We met Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari and requested her to construct a park in the sector. We
have also given her options of vacant plots to plan a big park for the residents in the sector,”
said Yadav.

RWA vice president Bunty Singh said that the population of the abadi plots is over 2,000. Due to
the lack of a park in the sector, people till now had to go to other sectors for walks. “As a result,
they are left without basic civic amenities,” Singh said.
Taking cognisance of the residents’ demand, Maheshwari directed the chief architect planner
(CAP) for a detailed report of the issue and the area and assured action based on the report.
In a meeting with authority officials held earlier this month, residents raised civic, water, sewer,
horticulture, sanitation and electrical issues. “There is a need for a boundary wall between
Sector 117 and Unitech Builder, some drains of S, B block are not made properly as their slope
is wrong leading to waterlogging and needs to be rectified. There is a problem of sewer overflow
in many places in the sector as the main sewer line needs to be cleaned properly. Apart from
that, all drains of the sector need to be repaired with cover and slabs on them,” said RWA
secretary Harsh Mohan Jhakmola.
