Gurugram: DTCP razes illegal showrooms, PGs

The department of town and country planning (DTCP) on Thursday carried out a demolition drive along the Delhi-Jaipur highway in Bilaspur area and razed multiple commercial structures such as showrooms, PG facilities, eateries and warehouses illegally constructed on agricultural land.

These structures were raised in the past one year without any approval from the department, officials said.

As per the norm, an owner needs to first take permission for change of land use (CLU) to convert their agricultural land into non-agricultural.

Thereafter, they are supposed to take approval for constructing commercial structures, after paying a hefty fee to DTCP.

To avoid paying the fee, many land owners illegally construct commercial facilities, thus causing huge losses to the state exchequer, officials said.
